you guys always ask me about which cruelty-free beauty products i use and would recommend, so when our sponsor philips* asked us if we wanted to try out their new electric toothbrush sonicare diamondclean – i thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share my evening beauty / cleanse routine with you guys.

so here we go – a step by step of how i make sure to feel refreshed and pampered before i go to bed.

1. face wash
the first thing i do is wash my face. i do this first because it’s my least favourite step – especially if i’m wearing makeup. so better get it our of the way !
i wash with santaverde’s aloe vera cleansing milk. i’m very happy with it, since it removes makeup really well, without making my face feel dry or sensitive afterwards. i naturally have dry and sensitive skin, so this cleanser is a big plus for me.

budget tip : i used to clean my face with pure virgin olive oil. it works quite well and moisturize extremely well if you have dry skin like me. it’s a bit annoying washing it off your face though, just a heads-up.

2. moisture + protection
after washing my face, i restore my skin’s pH-level with another santaverde product ( as you will notice, i almost only use their products for my face ) – the santaverde age protect toner. i used to use products from their standard collection, but they sent me their age protect series to try out and i’m in love.
at night, i like applying their age protect serum and the moisturizer from the same series. these products leave my skin feeling smooth and protected, without being too oily or heavy. if it’s very cold outside, i might also apply some facial oil from the same series – especially on my nose and lips.

budget tip : for years, i used my own homemade toner, which is fabulous ( 2 parts clean water, 1 part organic apple cider vinegar, a few drops of tea tree oil).
another great tip for cold winter days – organic coconut oil for those dry spots and as lip balm. it smells yummy too !

3. brushing my teeth
as i’ve mentioned earlier, i’ve been trying out the new sonicare diamondclean electric toothbrush from philips. it’s been a long while since i had an electric toothbrush, and now i wonder why…?

already after the first time i tried it, my teeth felt noticeably cleaner and smoother. david has been talking about getting electric toothbrushes for a while now so he’s over the moon of course. i especially like that there are 5 different modes you can choose from (clean, white, polish, gum care, and sensitive). i usually start out with the ‘sensitive’ mode and finish off with the ‘white’ mode. apparently the density of the threads both helps whiten your teeth and also removes plaque up to 7 times more efficiently than a normal toothbrush.

another plus is the cute travel case that makes it easy to bring the toothbrush on trips. mine is coming with me to LA next month for sure !

the toothpaste i normally use is the alviana mint toothpaste. it’s organic and vegan and i get it at the organic food shop alnatura here in berlin. i like its super fresh taste !
the toothpaste you see in the photos is also vegan – a lovely little gift from the philips team. haven’t tried it yet, but it sure is a cute packaging, don’t you think ?
not sure if this is accurate, but i’ve heard that normal toothpastes use egg whites to make them more foamy ? seems weird to be brushing your teeth with eggs right ?
^.^

4. final touch
after brushing my teeth, i scrape my tongue with a tongue cleaner (not seen in photos). it makes my whole mouth feel so clean – it’s become a total addiction to use it. i’ve been doing it for more than 10 years now.
finally, my lips usually feel a bit dry after brushing, so i normally just apply some coconut oil or santaverde age protect facial oil before turning off the lights and crawling into bed with my book. i’ve just started reading emily l. by margeruite duras. seems interesting, has anyone read it ?

oh i almost feel like going to bed now ! it’s such a lovely moment of the day, don’t you think ?
a big thank you to philips for making my evening routine all that more luxurious, we all deserve a bit of pampering before going to bed !

love // jenny
