3 THINGS : budget minimalist home decor tips

comments 22

after living on other people’s apartments and houses for two and half year, i feel like i’m becoming sort of savvy at making it feel homey around me with small means.

making a home get a luxurious feel can quite often come with a hefty price tag though. designer furniture, expensive floral arrangements, and constantly new decor pieces to follow what’s on trend. not exactly a budget way to live.

i like the mix. i like having both luxurious designs for my home, at the same time as saving a buck wherever i can on nice budget solutions.
these are three ways in which i save money on decor and design.

you know me, simple is beautiful. a few flowers, and some natural materials like glass or wood – beautiful to look at and lovely to the touch. it doesn’t take a whole lot more to make your home instantly level up. or what do you think ?

if you haven’t seen latest apartment tour yet by the way, you can have a look here.

  1. Few pieces that mean a lot, is what I go for. Rather than spending lots of money on large trendy artworks, I may have a A4 sized drawing framed on the wall – but it was created by a dear friend and means a lot to me, as well as being absolutely beautiful. That sort of thing!

  2. Hi, Jenny. I’m a fairly new follower. I am wondering if you’ve ever done a video or blog post explaining your personal aesthetic in terms of your makeup. It’s unusual, and I’d like to know how you arrived at it and decided that’s how you wanted to look (makeup and hair, mostly), or if you have any tips for other people to think about how they want to look. Thanks!

  3. My favorite tip is recycling! I live in dormitory. So, this one would be the most useful of all! Thank you, Jenny. And I have made a glass vase from the bottle I bought a couple of days before.
Can you make a video about autumn? What about ‘3 things: how to warm up yourself in autumn’?

  4. I love the gray-ish look of that glass vase. It’s a refreshing alternative to bright white vases. What material is that made of? I also love how you put it on the edge of the matching plate — you are right about the beautiful look of minimalist designs: simple is beautiful! I need to be more minimalist with my decor; sometimes, I just want to downgrade what I have out and make it more simple.

  8. I love what you were able to do with such few pieces. It really looks amazing. Thanks for the inspiration.

  9. That’s a good idea to always keep simple in our minimalist home, especially interior design, but why it has to be white? I think you can combine or use grey since the white is easy to be dirty.. (for me at least). Btw thanks for the post!

  10. I like the idea of keeping it simple, the contemporary style can be best characterised by: less is more, clean lines, emphasis on lines and form, and neutral colors.

  11. I love the idea of minimalism. I think that a lot of people want huge things in their home, but they don’t realize how much people really like the nicer, tamer things in the house. Do you have any other tips about decorating your home?

  12. I love your comment about showcasing a poem or quote. I love the idea to use vinyl letters to put them up. I’m sure you could find something like that on a home decor website.

  13. Hi there, You’ve done a fantastic job. I will definitely digg it and in my view suggest to my friends. I am sure they will be benefited from this website.

  14. I liked when you said that simple is beautiful. I agree that keeping your decoration simple can not only help you save money but also give your house a humble and comfortable feeling. I will make sure to remember your tips as I look for ways to beautify my house. Thank you for sharing.

  15. I like the idea of having designer decor. I would like to have some plants that match the room. More importantly I would like to have something that makes a pop in the room.

  16. I appreciate the information on how to decorate your home on a budget. I agree that trying to make your home feel more luxurious and better can start to get pretty expensive, it makes it hard to get the decorations you want. My wife has been wanting to decorate our house a little more, I will be sure to share this information with her.

  17. I’ve always been a fan of the dollar store. For a buck, I can buy a simple glass vase and fill it with flowers from around a few nearby parks I travel through during walks outside. I may not be minimalist, but I sure am budget conscious

  18. I’m trying to decide how I’m going to decorate my home. It makes sense that I would want to try going for a minimalist style! It would definitely be the cheaper option.

  19. Totally agree with. Simple is always beautiful. I am going to re-design my room but now it’s time to make it simple.
