RECIPE : no-bake banana choco slices

comments 36

how to treat myself without mistreating my body : vegan no-bake banana choco slices !
perfect snack or dessert with chocolate-banana rich flavours, without oil, margarine, white sugar or anything else that’s bad for me. and since i really can’t bake, these no-bake slices are fool-proof even for me.

let me know if you’d like me to share more about my view on health in my videos – like i’m doing in this one. also, i’ve written a column about how i found health and what my definition of health is, if you’d like to know more.

choco banana slices :
6-8 dates, pitted
250 ml / 1 cup oats
3 tbsp cacao
1- 1½ banana
a pinch of chilli flakes (optional)
3 tbsp almonds, chopped (for garnish)

– blend the dates in a food processor or blender until smooth
– add the dry ingredients (minus the almonds) and blend again
– add the banana and blend. if the dough needs more moisture, add more banana. if it’s too wet, add more oats. it’s the perfect consistency when it forms a ball by itself in the food processor when blending (see video)
– form into a rectangle on a parchment paper, and sprinkle half of the the almonds on top. you might need to pat the almond pieces into the dough to make it stick. carefully turn it upside down and add more almond sprinkle. let cool completely in the fridge before cutting
– here served with strawberries and basil (yum). also delicious with homemade soy yogurt or whipped coconut cream

  3. Hello Jenny, I just wanted to tell you that I love your blog. I’m neither a vegan nor a vegetarian, but the things you write about make me think a lot about the kind of lifestyle I have, the things I eat, buy and have in general.
I eat a lot of “sweet treats”, but in most cases it comes in the form of junk food, so this post was actually very inspiring.
Although I haven’t been paying attention at all to what I eat lately, your blog definitely makes me wanna change that.
As I said before, your blog makes me think about a lot of things, so I will keep checking the updates and probably make some more comments in the future.
I look foward to trying your recipes…And yes! Keep making videos!
Thank you so much for everything!

I made these today and they were AMAZING. Another user commented that she had incorporated coconut, so I mixed about two tablespoons into my dough and it was extra tasty. Thanks so much!

  18. Absolutely fantastic treat.
I’m no fan of bananas in cake, but I gave it a go anyway. They are amazing :)

The fresh strawberries just makes them perfect.
I didn’t put chili, but I’ll try that next time.

Thank you for a great recipe.

  19. Hi, your recipes are so great and your whole lifestyle is such an inspiration. I love that you don’t promote any restrictive lifestyle and that you have also told in one of your videos about healthy eating, that we should just eat healthy and yummy food and shouldn’t count calories or measure everything, but being more creative and using our own instincts instead. Thank you so much for sharing all these guidelines! I just wanted to know if you could recommend any food processor or if you know one that is smaller and not so overpowered (because our kitchen is very small and I want to use it just for raw-baking and making nut-butter and things like that). I would really appreciate if you answer my comment and I wish you and David some nice and relaxing holidays and a good start of the new year.

  20. Hi Jenny :-) i’ve made them several times and they’re always tasty, I love them! Today with coconut shreds and oil, delicious :-)
